Beryl e Compiz não funcionam corretamente (Resolvido)

Opa!

Este mesmo driver eu já havia baixado. Por vias das dúvidas baixei-o outra vez e instalá-lo. Tudo OK. Tentei configurar: em princípio a máquina reconhece automaticamente a placa e pega o driver nvidia, mas depois dá tela preta

Tentei fazer manualmente tanto com o driver nv quanto com o nvidia. A mesma coisa.

Só levanta o modo gráfico se o cara estiver rodando com o driver vesa!!! pode acreditar?
